1. 7:30 pm, after a hot day it's time for a little evening swim (not for Viljami though; he's still recovering from his operation).
| 2. The sun is already low, but it's still quite warm and the boys can't wait to get there. |
3. Down at the parkinglot the boys start wondering where I went. Just wanted to take a pic. The island in the background is Helsinki Zoo. In clear nights you can hear the big cats roaring there. |
| 4. This place is for washing carpets and rugs, but people also go swimming from there. These things can be found on several spots around the Helsinki area. |
5. Joel jumps right in and Viljami takes his place on a washing table. Aah, life is so sweet...! |
| 6. This boy is a regular water beast. If it were possible he'd be swimming 24/7/52... |
7. Joel needs to get his breath back for a while, after a long swimming and diving session. Viljami is already getting bored and he'd like to get going. |
| 8. This boat is exactly the same type we used to have when I was young. Only, we took the mast off. It was too short to be effective -- it was only in the way.
Oh, how much I'd like to have a boat... |
9. This is the view to the northern (ugly) parts of downtown Helsinki. It's almost 9 pm already. |
| 10. We walk back home along the shoreline. There's a jungle gym on our way and Viljami wants to play for a moment. |
11. The whole end of our island is park with some really nice spots. It's still quite light at 9 pm. |
| 12. A view to our house from the seaside park. |
13. Weed, sea and the seafortress Suomenlinna. |
| 14. The park just in front of our house. The minimalism of it pleases my restless mind. I love to sit on a bench or on those round stones, watch the sea, empty my mind -- and be in peace with the universe... |
15. I'm concentrating on the photographing when I suddenly hear a familiar voice behind me. Teemu has come to see what's keeping us, because our 'short' evening swim has taken quite a long time. |
| 16. Viljami wants me to take a pic of him and the roses. "Why not", I think. Besides, there's the view I so often sit and look at. Well, normally without the stiff lens bug, though... |

Here you can see the whole Katajanokka and our route. The boats on the right are ice-breakers. They spend their summer vacation here with us, but the long icy winter months they're on duty all around the Baltic sea.
The castle-like yellow building is our Foreign Ministry. Teemu's father works there.
